Is Myofunctional Therapy covered under extended health benefits?
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is a service provided by a regulated health care professional, such as a Dental Hygienist.
Since every insurance policy is unique and different, it is beneficial to contact your insurance provider. Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy may be under preventative treatment or orthodontic treatment, or you may also use your Health Spending Account (HSA). Uncovered myofunctional therapy services may be claimed as a healthcare expense on your income taxes.
After your evaluation visit, we are happy to assist you by providing you with a predetermination form and letter of explanation, if you would like to look into your coverage. During therapy, receipts, and claim forms are provided to you and sent manually to your insurance provider.
Predetermination forms, claim forms, and receipts must be submitted manually by the responsible party to your benefit carrier. We do not offer electronic submission of claim forms at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
