OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA (OSA) is a type of Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB). This condition disrupts the sleep pattern by stopping the breathing during sleep, depriving the body and the brain of Oxygen. This causes fatigue and exhaustion, putting strain on the nervous system and major organs.
With OSA, REM SLEEP, the "Rest and Repair Stage" is often insufficient. It does not allow the body optimal recovery.
